PSG have confirmed that the player in question is now in custody
A Paris Saint-Germain women’s footballer has been arrested for reportedly hiring two men to attack a teammate who plays in the same position as her.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, Aminata Diallo, 26, hired two men to attack Kheira Hamraoui who plays in the same position for both PSG and the French national team so that she would be ruled out of contention.
The attack occurred on 4 November as Diallo was driving Hamraoui home and two masked men dragged the 31-year-old out of the car while in possession of iron bars.
It was then reported that one of the men repeatedly hit her in the legs with the iron bar before both left the scene.
Hamraoui missed PSG’s Champions League game against Real Madrid as a result, as she had been in hospital where she had been given stitches in her legs and hands for the injury, whilst Diallo started the game.
Diallo has since been arrested and PSG have confirmed that she is currently in custody.
In a statement, they said: “Paris Saint-Germain takes note of the police custody this morning of Aminata Diallo by the Versailles SRPJ as part of the procedure opened following an assault on Thursday last night against club players.
“Paris Saint-Germain strongly condemns the violence committed. Since Thursday evening November 4, the club has taken all the necessary measures to guarantee the health, well-being and safety of its players.
“Paris Saint-Germain is working with the Versailles SRPJ to shed light on the facts. The club is attentive to the progress of the procedure and will study the follow-up to be given to it.”
