Raheem Sterling’s host streak continues at pace
Gareth Southgate’s England team continued their red hot start to their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign with a 5-1 win away to Montenegro on a night marred by alleged racist chanting from the home fans.
Montenegro shocked England by taking an early lead through Marko Vesovic, before goals from Michael Keane, a double from Ross Barkley and Harry Kane put the Three Lions 4-1 up.

The final goal of the game came from Manchester City star Raheem Sterling, a player who may well be in the best form of his entire career. Fresh off the back of his hat-trick at home to the Czech Republic, Sterling capped this impressive night off with a deft finish after a threaded through ball from Jordan Henderson.
After scoring the goal, Sterling cupped his ears towards the home fans in a gesture that is believed to have been a direct response to alleged racist chanting that was aimed at members of the England team.
His celebration was met with anger and jeers from the home fans, some of whom through objects towards Sterling and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Speaking after the match, Southgate confirmed that he had heard abuse towards Rose at the end of the game and said that his team would ensure that the abuse was reported correctly.
“I definitely heard abuse at Danny Rose when he got booked at the end of the game… We’ll make sure that’s reported officially. It’s not acceptable,” said Southgate.
