Rashford and some of Fosu-Mensah’s other former United teammates wished him well following the news of his injury
Marcus Rashford and several other Manchester United players have reached out to former teammate Timothy Fosu-Mensah after he picked up a serious knee injury over the weekend.
Fosu-Mensah left United in January in pursuit of more first team opportunities, joining German club Bayer Leverkusen. He was withdrawn during half-time of the Bundesliga game with Freiburg at the weekend, with it later confirmed by the club he had torn his cruciate ligament and would be out of action for months.

The Dutch international made 30 appearances for United, but failed to establish himself as a first team regular at Old Trafford after loan spells with Crystal Palace and Fulham. He remained a popular figure amongst the United playing staff, reflected by some of the messages he received as news of his injury reached Manchester.
Rashford was one of the first to respond to the news, tweeting Fosu-Mensah shortly after the extent of his injury became clear.
Thinking about you @tfosumensah 🙏🏾

Donny van de Beek, who also came through the youth ranks at Ajax with Fosu-Mensah before the pair were briefly reunited in Manchester, also wished him well on Instagram.
“Stay strong my brother, I always have your back,” he wrote. “I wish you a quick recovery.”
Scott McTominay also added a post to his Instagram Stories: “You will be back even better Timo,” it said. “You will achieve amazing things in your career. Wishing you all the best.”
