Ravel Morrison is on the move again, this time to Sweden. The former Manchester United midfielder has just signed a short-term deal with Ostersunds FK, who rose to fame in the UK while under the management of Graham Potter, now at Swansea, when they beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates in the Europa League.
Morrison joins from Lazio on what is believed to be a free transfer. He has signed a six month contract, which could be extended further if the 26-year-old impresses over the first half of their season, which begins in March.
Ostersunds are managed by an English contingent, with Ian Burchnall as manager and Bournemouth’s former head of recruitment David Webb working as their technical director.
On Morrison’s move, Burchnall said: “It’s a fantastic recruitment for us. David Webb, our technical director, has done a fantastic job.
“Morrison has trained with us for a while and we have talked to him about his career and what he wants. It feels great that he is now our player.”
Despite his huge potential, Morrison did not manage to make an impact at Lazio, but did enjoy a successful loan spell in Mexico at Atlas.
His best form arguably came at West Ham in the 2014/15 season, but the maverick midfielder was not able to sustain his run of form, and was promptly loaned out.
Now 26, this could be Morrison’s last chance to show why he was so highly rated during his time at the Manchester United academy.
