The BBC broadcast ‘Sir Alex Ferguson: Secrets of Success’ on Sunday night, and it’s safe to say opinion was polarised.
Many Man United fans were predictably revelling in the glory years under Fergie, but a significant number of viewers were pretty cynical about the rose-tinted show.
Here is a cross-section of opinion:
Jonny was giddy excited about the programme…
Great documentary on BBC1 at the moment about God. What a man he is

Z was less so…

Many were impressed with Fergie’s trust and treatment of youngsters…
"Young people surprise you when you give them the opportunity" Fergie on youth

Great stuff. Alex Ferguson on dealing with young player parents: 'Get the mother on your side because she makes all the decisions'.

Although less so with the suggestion he never held a grudge…
Never held a grudge?
I've never had a wank either.

Fergie says he has never held a grudge -didn't he refuse to speak to BBC for years over his son's treatment in a documentary? #FergieSecrets

Some questioned his discretion and motives…
Fergie refused to speak to the BBC for 7 years after their documentary on his son Jason. Happy now however to forgive for self promotion.

But other contributors were less welcome…
I hate Tony Blair

Barney was impressed with Fergie’s motivational skills…
Alex Ferguson: "I made sure they wore their blazers wherever they went. Representing club that way. See that blazer, see that badge."
— Barney @Red News (@barneyrednews) October 11, 2015
Others gently poked fun at his methods…
This was Fergie's key management tool. He also told players to watch Good Will Hunting & dance like no one's watching pic.twitter.com/vRuWqQaNFH

Many admired his winning mentality….

Love the relationship between Fergie and @Cristiano. Clearly adore each other, and clearly made Ronaldo the player he is today
— Tom Wallin (@Wallin58) October 11, 2015
Ronaldo would easily return to Man Utd if Fergie was still the coach.

In the end, it was a nostalgia trip for United fans – and the perfect end to the weekend…
