After all the mystery around Louis van Gaal’s ‘secret’ striker, it looks as though Manchester United are preparing to make Fernando Llorente their next signing.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Spanish international has been offered to the club by Juventus, and United have asked to be ‘kept informed’ of the player’s situation.
The former Athletic Bilbao frontman famously helped knock the Premier League outfit out of Europe in 2012, scoring a stunning volley in a 5-3 aggregate win.
He has spent the last two seasons with Juventus, scoring 18 goals in his first campaign, but was left out of the starting line-up for last season’s Champions League final.
The arrival of Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic could leave his place under further threat, though, and United could offer the 30-year-old a lifeline.
With Radamel Falcao’s loan ending and Robin van Persie moving to Fenerbahce, United are looking light up front and it is no surprise that van Gaal is looking to add another option.
