Pep Guardiola was thought to be pretty much signed and sealed as the next Manchester City manager.
The current Bayern Munich boss admitted earlier this month he’d be coming to England this summer, and then tried to backtrack saying it may not be this year after all.
But that was surely only a chance to try and repair the PR damage done as it looked like he had effectively sacked Manuel Pellegrini.
No matter what he said it looked very much like the ex-Barcelona boss was going to pitch up at the Etihad from August of this year – but that might not be the case if these new reports are to be believed.
According to L’Equipe, Guardiola met with officials from Old Trafford last week to discuss what we can only we assume was a move to replace the under-fire Louis van Gaal.
The French newspaper is reporting that the 45-year-old met the club’s directors in Paris, and the talks are likely to move him a step closer to a summertime move to England.
The question is now, which club will he turn up to?
