England now have even more incentive to win the World Cup.
The hosts will have a share of an incredible £6 million jackpot should they lift the William Webb Ellis cup on October 31, according to The Telegraph.
England are the team with the largest financial incentive at the tournament, and each member of the squad to face Fiji in the the opening game will be paid £15,000 – more than double that paid to any other country.
Should England reach the final, each player will receive £58,333, and if they win the tournament they’ll get another £53,333 on top of that fee.
If a player features in all seven games they’d get another £105,000, but if England exit in the semi-finals, the players will still earn £50,000 each.
By comparison, Fiji’s squad will receive £500 each a week for living expenses.
