Rio Ferdinand: ‘Man United could experience title drought like Liverpool’

Touché

Liverpool’s league drought is a cautionary tale for Man United, according to Rio Ferdinand.

In quotes appearing in The Daily Mail, the legendary United defender has warned his former club that they “could have Premier League title drought like Liverpool if they don’t get (the) right manager.”

United haven’t claimed the league title since 2013, when Alex Ferguson retired, and they’re highly unlikely to launch a late run this season.

And Ferdinand believes that another poor managerial appointment in the summer could set the Red Devils down a similar path to arch-rivals Liverpool who have been without domestic glory since 1990.

Jamie Carragher took umbrage with Ferdinand’s opinion and took to Twitter to point out that, while Premier League triumph has eluded the Reds, they have five European titles to their name.

But former international teammate Ferdinand fired back, reiterating the length of time that Liverpool have struggled with league runs.

Point Rio.
