Rio Ferdinand completely writes off Manchester City’s chances of defeating Real Madrid

He might regret this

… Manchester City are taking on Real Madrid in their first ever Champions League semi-final.

But despite all of the Spanish giants’ La Decima grandeur, at the time of the last four draw, many suggested that Real were the weakest possible opponents City could have faced.

One man that disagrees with this is former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand who suggested that the likes of former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale would bring City’s Champions League adventure to an end.

Speaking to Alan Brazil Sport Breakfast on talkSPORT, Ferdinand said: “If Bale and Cristiano are playing, over the two legs I can’t see Man City being within two goals of Real.

“Defensively they haven’t given me any cause to suggest they are going to be ready to stand up to the talent of Bale and Ronaldo.

“Ronaldo has scored 50 goals a season for the last five or six seasons. It’s ridiculous.”

We’re sure Rio will be reminded of these comments if City do manage to reach next month’s final…
