Roberto Firmino has been charged with drink driving after being pulled over by police on Christmas Eve, according to local law enforcement.
Merseyside police have confirmed that the 25-year-old was pulled over in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Christmas Eve before being subsequently arrested.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the Liverpool Echo:
“Merseyside Police has charged a 25-year-old man with drink driving after his car was stopped in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Saturday, December 24 2016.
“Roberto Firmino, from Liverpool, will appear at Liverpool City Magistrates Court on January 31.”
Liverpool are set to face Stoke City at Anfield on Tuesday but it is currently unclear whether the Brazilian star will be made available for the crucial clash.
According to reports, Firmino is set to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court next month, on the same day that Klopp’s side face Chelsea at Anfield.
