Who the hell is Ronda Rousey hanging around with?
The UFC women’s bantamweight champion is nothing if not in peak physical condition but she revealed that somebody had once taken a shot at her appearance in the run-up to a photoshoot.
Rousey had planned on shedding a few pounds ahead of the date “but because somebody said something really rude to me, I came into the shoot purposely way heavier.”
Rowdy was refreshingly candid about the unrealistic body image expectations facing young women in a recent interview with the New York Times and said “I swear to God, if anyone calls me fat one more time in my life, I’m going to kill them.”
Visibly muscled, Rousey never had the same kind of body as the models she would have seen in magazines or on television and she revealed that she used to wear jackets outside at all times because “I was afraid to show my big arms.”
But in recent years, Rousey has appeared nude in ESPN’s magazine and in bikinis for Maxim and the Sports Illustrated so she’s come to embrace her body.
“If I can represent that body type of women that isn’t represented so much in media, then I’d be happy to do that,” she said. “When women say that going on publications directed at men is somehow demeaning, I don’t think that’s true. I think that’s one really effective way to change the societal standard women are held to.”
