“We’ll give your 24 hours to resign”
Saint-Etienne supporters have unveiled a banner which shows a message calling for the resignation of manager Claude Puel.
Les Verts are currently bottom of Ligue 1, having failed to win any of their opening 10 league fixtures, losing six of them.
Puel – who has been in charge of the French side since October 2019 – has come under increased scrutiny in recent weeks, exacerbated by the 5-1 loss at Strasbourg on Sunday.
Despite this, the former Leicester boss has stated that there is ‘no pressure’ on him or his team.
Speaking at this pre-match press conference, the 60-year-old said: “I think the supporters will get behind their team and that’s the most important thing.
“We’re at home and we must impose pressure on our opponents and not have an atmosphere that undermines our team.
“For me there’s no pressure. I’m entirely focused on what we have to do and how to get the team to perform.”
Understandably, Saint-Etienne supporters are frustrated with Puel and the performances of his side, with many taking to social media to express their displeasure at the style of play the manager opts for.
Other fans are calling for the Frenchman’s sacking, with a group of Les Verts fans creating a banner which reads: “We’ll give your 24 hours to resign…”

In total, Puel has taken charge of 81 matches as Saint-Etienne boss, winning 24, drawing 21 and losing 36.
Should Saint-Etienne fail to win against Angers on Friday, it would equal their worst-ever Ligue 1 winless run of 13 games, recorded between July and September 1988.
