Pace isn’t exactly the first word that comes to mind when you think of Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Vision, intercepting, passing range and probably even goalkeeping would be more logical first thoughts.
But according to stats compiled by EA Sports Player Performance Index, the German international has clocked the second highest speed of all Manchester United players this season.
Schweinsteiger has only been bettered by Anthony Martial, who proved himself as one of the fastest players in the league after reaching a top speed of 35.4km/h.
Schweinsteiger’s 34.52km/h is somewhat surprising, it has to be said, considering he’s a 31-year-old with plenty of miles on his clock.
Chris Smalling, who for so long has maintained that he’s something of a speedster, has come in third place at 34.47km/h.
We’d never have guessed.
