Aguero is set to officially confirm the news this week
Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is expected to announce his retirement from football on Wednesday, it has been reported in Spain.
The 33-year-old left City for Barcelona in the summer but has been troubled by injury and health issues since arriving at the Camp Nou.
His last appearance for the club came against Alaves at the end of October, when he was withdrawn and taken to hospital after experiencing discomfort in his chest. After undergoing cardiological tests, the club confirmed the cause was a heart arrhythmia.
Having initially being ruled out for three months, it later emerged that Aguero may have to retire as a result of the condition.
Journalist Emilio Pérez de Rozas announced on Marca Radio on Monday morning that the Argentine will announced his decision within 48 hours. This has also been reported by Guilem Balague.

Despite the sorry end to his career at Barcelona, Aguero will be remembered as one of the most formidable goalscorers of his generation.
Having began his career in his native Argentina with Independiente, he earned a big move to Europe with Atletico Madrid while still a teenager in 2006. He remained with the club for five years and was part of the side that won the Europa League in 2010.
Manchester City paid a reported £38m for him in 2011, a fee which seemed more than value for money as he famously clinched the title in the dying seconds of his first season at the Etihad – City’s third ever league title and first since 1968.
Aguero went on to score 260 goals in 390 games for City, becoming their all-time leading scorer and winning five Premier League crowns, one FA Cup and six League Cups.
