Aguero was quick to respond to Garnacho

Sergio Aguero trolled Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho after he expressed his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 17-year-old Garnacho was named in the Red Devils’ matchday squad for the clash against Norwich City on Saturday, and he was an unused substitute as Ralf Rangnick’s men secured a 3-2 victory over the Canaries.

Ronaldo scored a hat-trick for United, bagging his third goal of the game in the 76th minute to secure all three points for the home side.

The Portuguese international opened the scoring in the seventh minute, before grabbing his second with a header. Norwich levelled through Kieran Dowell and Teemu Pukki, but Ronaldo scored late to move United up to fifth place in the Premier League, three points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur.

At full-time, fans were quick to spot a touching moment between Ronaldo and Garnacho, with the former Real Madrid man appearing to gift the match ball to the promising youngster.

Garnacho posted a photo of himself and Ronaldo on Instagram after the game, alongside the caption: “Greatest of all times…”, followed by goat, football, fire and love heart emojis.

However, Manchester City legend Aguero immediately responded to Garnacho’s post, commenting: “Because you still didn’t play with the best pa @leomessi.”

Garnacho – a former Spain youth international – was named in Argentina’s senior squad last month alongside Messi, receiving a call-up for the World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Ecuador.

The Red Devils’ interim manager Rangnick has previously hailed the attacker as “one of the most promising players” in the club’s academy – vowing to hand him his first-team debut in the near future.

“He has been training with us the last two weeks and he is one of the most promising players,” Rangnick told MUTV.

“He is only 17, but if he keeps his feet on the ground, he will not only be sitting on the bench but will be playing for this club.”

Despite this, the German has admitted that he does not want to play any of United’s youngsters at ‘the wrong moment’.

He added: “It’s always about playing the strongest available team because they are not friendly games and I don’t think we would do some of the youngsters a favour if we bring them in at the wrong moment.

“I love to play young players but in a moment when the team is performing well and playing with confidence.

“Then it could be the right moment to give young players game time but not in a situation like we’re in right now.”
