Video footage appeared to show McBurnie stamping on an individual
A video has emerged on social media in which Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie appears to stamp on a pitch invader following his side’s defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Forest beat Sheffield United on penalties
United were beaten on penalties at the City Ground on Tuesday night and after Brice Samba made his third save of the night, Forest fans ran onto the pitch to celebrate reaching the play-off final and moving to within one game of a long-awaited return to the Premier League.
Despite the euphoria the invasion was marred by several incidents. One of the most notable was an attack on Blades captain Billy Sharp. A man has since been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection to the incident.

Outside the ground United, and former Forest, defender Jack Robinson was involved in an altercation between a number of home supporters which resulted in the 28-year-old being pulled away to prevent tensions escalating further.

The latest of incidents now appearing from the fallout shows McBurnie allegedly stamping on a fan who had fallen to the floor during the celebrations.
In a video posted to Twitter, the Scotland international can be seen surrounded by several of his teammates and fans before moving forward to the fan and raising his leg.
McBurnie was then pulled away by members of the Sheffield squad while the person recording the video can be heard saying: “The Sheffield United player just stamped on him.”

As of writing, no investigation has been launched into the isolated incident but reports emerged on Tuesday that the Football Association are looking into the assault on Sharp, as well as the pitch invasion.
There is a possibility that Forest could face severe punishment for the invasion and could even be forced to play the first home game of next season behind closed doors.
