Shkodran Mustafi definitely didn’t appreciate that question.
The Arsenal defender made a memorable return to action on Saturday, having been sidelined for several weeks with an injury he picked up on international duty last month.
Mustafi opened the scoring for the Gunners in their 2-0 derby day victory over Spurs and his passion was clear for all to see as he wheeled away in celebration.
In the wake of Saturday’s victory, Mustafi faced questions on the summer transfer window, which reportedly almost saw him move to Inter Milan.
“You like to get the shit, the biggest shit,” the German international told reporters.
“That’s your job. You are asking me about it, it’s your job from the people outside, talking and thinking that they know everything.
“What happens in the changing room is the real thing. I don’t understand why people just talk about things they cannot know about.
“If I have been talking to clubs or if I haven’t, it’s only rumours.”
Mustafi made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners last season after moving to the Emirates from Valencia for a fee believed to be in the range of £35 million.
Negotiations were underway to see him move to Inter as deadline day approached but the deal fell apart after the Italian side apparently refused to match Arsenal’s asking price.
“Obviously there are so many newspapers, they need something to write because it’s boring if the paper is empty,” Mustafi added.
“But I’m here, I’m standing in front of you in an Arsenal shirt.”
