Sky Sports announce launch of dedicated NFL channel

The new channel is part of a five-year deal between the broadcaster and the NFL

Sky Sports and the NFL have announced the launch of Sky Sports NFL, a new channel dedicated to the National Football League.

The new channel, which is part of a five-year partnership between NFL and Sky Sports, will launch on September 3, a week ahead of the new NFL season.

Sky Sports NFL will be available in the UK and Ireland, and according to Sky Sports, airing a minimum of five games a week during the regular season and will feature coverage from the NFL Network, as well as American shows Good Morning Football and Total Access.

Documentaries on the sport will also be available on the channel, as well as weekly review shows looking at the week’s events.

Sky Sports first aired NFL in 1995, with its coverage going hand-in-hand with the growing popularity of the sport in the United Kingdom.

Speaking about the launch of the new channel, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said:

“Sky Sports has been a fantastic broadcast partner for a quarter of a century. This new five-year agreement and the launch of a dedicated Sky Sports NFL channel will undoubtedly continue our rapid growth in the UK and Ireland. We are excited that our expanded partnership with Sky will provide even more NFL content to our millions of UK and Irish fans.”
