“We’re embarrassed losing the way we do, we know we’re in a very bad run and a bad situation.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained why held his hands up to the Manchester United fans after the Red Devils’ humiliating defeat against Watford.
United were dominated at Vicarage Road after goals from Joshua King, Ismaila Sarr, Joao Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis condemned the Red Devils to another disappointing defeat.
Captian Harry Maguire was also sent off, picking up a second yellow card for a clumsy challenge.
After the full-time whistle, Solskjaer and his players walked over to show their appreciation to the travelling fans – with the Norwegian seen putting his hands up and apologising for his side’s display.
His gesture was met by a large chorus of boos, despite Bruno Fernandes’ attempts to take the blame away from the manager.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the United boss explained that he simply wanted to apologise for the ’embarrassing’ performance.
He said: “I feel for the fans, I feel with the fans, I feel the same as them, we’re embarrassed losing the way we do, we know we’re in a very bad run and a bad situation.
“But that’s part of football and I know they’ll support the team and whoever’s on the pitch every single day and sometimes you’ve got to say sorry, and that was a sorry for the performance.”

The 48-year-old was then pushed to talk about his future, but brushed it aside as he opted to praise his players and staff.
“That’s not for me to worry about, I work as hard as I can, as well as I can, with the staff I’ve got – incredible staff, good top people, good professional players, but at the moment were not getting the results.”
It remains to be seen whether or not Solskjaer will still be the United boss for the next game, which is an away trip to Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The likes of Brendan Rodgers, Zinedine Zidane and Erik Ten Haag have been touted as possible candidates for the job should the Norwegian get sacked.
