Fans can’t work out the reason behind Pochettino’s decision to omit two key defenders
Mauricio Pochettino today announced that both Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld are not part of Tottenham Hotspur’s squad to face Inter Milan in the Champions League this week.
The Spurs boss said it was a “technical decision”, as opposed to a tactical one.
“It’s a technical decision. You can look it up in the dictionary. Tactical? That is on the pitch, although guess you could say this is tactical off of the pitch,” he explained at today’s pre-match press conference.
Pochettino refused to elaborate further on the reason for the players’ omission, leaving Spurs fans bemused and unable to decode his reasoning.

It doesn’t make sense that Toby and Trippier have been left out for tomorrow’s game. All I am think is to stop them bring cup-tied? #COYS

This gives Serge Aurier and Davinson Sánchez another opportunity to reclaim their positions in the starting XI.
Spurs will also be without Dele Alli, Huge Lloris and Moussa Sissoko, all of whom are battling injuries.
