Spurs are not going to part ways with their talisman without being appropriately compensated.
Harry Kane continues to astound with a frankly outrageous goalscoring rate and, with his proficiency for finding the net, it was something of an inevitability that European giants were going to come knocking sooner rather than later.
110 goals in 175 games for Spurs cannot be ignored and Kane continues to be linked with moves to the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Just this week, Real boss Zinedine Zidane showered Kane with compliments amid suggestions that the La Liga side were prepared to break the bank for the forward.
“He’s good at everything and he’s always thinking about the goal in everything he does,” Zidane said of the England international.
“I don’t know what will happen in the future. But in the present, what he is doing has made him a very important player, a key player.
“He is a complete player. He did not seem to be one [at first], but in the end, he is.”
Spurs are understandably going to fight to keep the 24-year-old but, as we all know, every player has a price and chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly decided upon an appropriate fee for Kane.
According to a report in the Times, Spurs would expect a fee in excess of the £200 million which Paris Saint-Germain splashed out on Neymar in the summer if they were to allow Kane to leave.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, has encouraged Kane to become a one-club player in the vein of Roma legend Francesco Totti.
“The most important thing is that he is happy at Tottenham,” Pochettino said of Kane at a press conference at the Bernabeu. “Tomorrow, who knows where we are going to be. But he enjoys Tottenham a lot, he comes from the academy and he is highly identified with the club.
“He is a player that likes and gets excited by scoring for Tottenham, he loves to wear the Tottenham shirt. I see a player that identifies with Tottenham’s values, and I hope for the fans and for us, that he stays for a long time. He has great quality and is a model professional to teammates.”
