They’ll be gutted…
Tottenham Hotspur have been kicked out of the UEFA Europa Conference League after Europe’s football governing body ruled that they forfeited their game against Rennes.
Due to a high number of Covid cases within the Spurs camp, they were unable to play the French side on December 9th. The case was put forward to UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body, who would make a decision about what action should be taken as a result.
As reported by the Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick, the Chairman of the UEFA Appeals Body decided: “To declare the 2021/22 UEFA Europa Conference League group stage match between Tottenham Hotspur and Stade Rennais FC, that was initially scheduled to be played on 9 December 2021, as forfeited by Tottenham Hotspur, who is therefore deemed to have lost the match 3-0 in accordance with Annex J.3.1 to the Regulations of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

This puts Tottenham third in their group, three points behind Vitesse Arnhem and four behind new group leaders Rennes, meaning they drop out of the competition and will now have tunnel vision focus on the Premier League and domestic cups.
