Steven Gerrard springs a surprise with his pick for a dream Liverpool boss

With Liverpool being linked with any and every manager as Brendan Rodgers’ future remains uncertain, it seems only fair to find out who the club’s former captain would want.

But Steven Gerrard’s dream Liverpool manager isn’t Carlo Ancelotti or Jurgen Klopp. Instead it’s someone significantly more out of reach for the Reds.

“The dream for me would have been if [Jose] Mourinho would have come and maybe sampled Liverpool for a few years,” the LA Galaxy midfielder said, describing the Chelsea boss as a “good fit” for the club even now.

Gerrard came close to playing under Mourinho at Stamford Bridge before ultimately backing out of a move to the London club to stay with Liverpool.

While he won the Champions League under Rafa Benitez in 2005, the 35-year-old suggested the Portuguese coach could have added “a couple of trophies” to his collection.
