Alex Telles set to complete Man Utd move after fee agreed with Porto

Manchester United have finally woken up

They’ve left it late – very, very late – but Manchester United look set to complete another transfer.

Alex Telles finally appears on the cusp of completing a move from FC Porto, despite a string of reports claiming United were some way off meeting the Portuguese club’s asking price for the left-back only a matter of days ago.

With deadline day looming, Sky Sports have now reported a fee of €20m has been agreed and Telles should be a United player within 24 hours provided he passes a medical, scheduled for Sunday evening.

The Brazilian is said to have pleaded with Porto to join United, where he looks likely to be their second summer signing following Donny van de Beek’s arrival from Ajax.

Telles may not be the only arrival at Old Trafford, either. Edinson Cavani is also expected to join the club after reportedly agreeing a two-year deal following the expiration of his Paris Saint-Germain contract in the summer.

There is also still a faint flicker of hope that Jadon Sancho’s move from Borussia Dortmund may be pushed through, despite the German club’s insistence the forward will be staying put for the remainder of the season.

News of Telles’ seemingly imminent arrival comes within hours of former United star Patrice Evra directing more criticism at the club’s inability to adequately strengthen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad. Appearing as a pundit on Sky Sports’ Super Sunday, Evra labelled the pursuit of Sancho “embarrassing”.
