Once upon a time Leicester vs Manchester United probably wasn’t exactly a major glamour tie.
But these days this top-of-the-table clash is the hottest ticket in town.
The focus was on one man – Jamie Vardy – and the free-scoring former Fleetwood Town man didn’t let the world down and bagged his 11th consecutive Premier League goal, knocking United legend Ruud Van Nistelrooy off the top spot. It only took him 24 minutes.
While the world was still congratulating the Englishman, Bastian Schweinsteiger popped up to open his United account on the stroke of half time to restore parity.
Both sides had chances to win the game but neither could find the net in the second half and the game finished 1-1 with The Foxes still sitting a point above United in second.
The internet reacted in style after the game. Obviously everyone was still in awe of Jamie Vardy’s record-breaking exploits…
Vardy! He scores when he wants.

Jamie Vardy take a bow – sheer commitment, energy, and making the absolute most of your talent – enjoy the moment #11inarow

San Marino and Lithuania the only other teams to stop Jamie Vardy scoring in 90 minutes. Who says San Marino football hasn't progressed?

What’s the opposite of awe? Whatever the word is, that’s pretty much how the internet was feeling about another abject performance from Wayne Rooney.

Can't imagine Rooney ever sitting in the bogs at West Brom & realising it's over like Neville, no matter how bad it is and how bad it'll get

Wayne Rooney's game by numbers vs. Leicester:
70% pass accuracy
0 shots on target
0 chances created
0 take-ons
0 crosses completedSubbed.

Another night of nothing from Wayne Rooney. Maybe he would be more useful as an impact player from the bench? If even that #MUFC

But the performance of United’s Matteo Darmian didn’t set the world on fire either…
Man Utd are as boring as hell. Damian is terrible

Remember when people said Darmian was better than Clyne 😂

Matteo Darmian's confidence has disintegrated. Looked brilliant in August.
— Rob Dawson (@RobDawsonESPN) November 28, 2015
@ManUtd Darmian's become shite ever since that Arsenal game. I blame Sanchez for it.

Then attentions inevitably turned to one man…
I get Van Gaal has his vision, but this side struggles to fit into that. A better manager would be more flexible to players' abilities.

Might give the glazers a call tonight, louis van gaal's time is up 🙂 To much negative football. #MUFC

Louis Van Gaal made one correct decision today & that was subbing #Rooney. Another dismal display from our 'captain'.

Massive point for Manchester United. Hanging on like that against Leicester shows how far they've come under Van Gaal.

“Louis van Gaal, he sends you to sleep” sing the Leicester fans… they have a point.
