Here’s what we think you should bet your money on in this weekend’s football

How's your luck?

Tom Victor

This week we’re introducing a new regular feature, in which we bring you three betting tips from across the footballing world.

You’re not human if you’re not frustrated by a losing acca or a glaring miss which ruins your ‘both teams to score’ punt, so we want to help you out.

Each week we’ll bring you three tips – one with short odds, one slightly longer, and one more ambitious long-shot.

We can’t guarantee results, but at least we’ll show our working (all odds correct at the time of writing).

Aston Villa v Southampton – Southampton to win to nil (7/5 with BetVictor)

Aston Villa might not be the worst team to ever play in the Premier League, but they’re undoubtedly the worst since Terry Connor’s Wolves bowed out of the top flight with a whimper.

Since beating Norwich City in January, Tim Sherwood’s Remi Garde’s Eric Black’s team have failed to pick up a single game, failing to score in six of those nine defeats.

Southampton, meanwhile, have won to nil on five occasions since the turn of the year. If they fail to make it six at Villa Park, you have to feel they’re doing it deliberately just to spite us.

Tottenham Hotspur v West Bromwich Albion – Tottenham to win and Harry Kane to score two or more goals (5.49 with Boylesports)

Anyone who thought Harry Kane would be a one-season wonder was clearly wide of the mark, with the 22-year-old firmly establishing himself as the best English striker around right now.

The Spurs man leads the Premier League goalscoring charts, two clear of Jamie Vardy and Sergio Aguero with just four games remaining.

Kane has scored two or more goals on seven separate occasions this season, and has every chance of adding to that tally against a West Brom side who failed to worry an out-of form Arsenal on Thursday night.

FA Cup Double – Watford to beat Crystal Palace and Manchester United -2 v Everton (28.50 with Stan James)

Roberto Martinez might have FA Cup pedigree, but he also has conceding lots of goals to pretty much anyone pedigree.

Everton have shipped three or more goals in seven of their 34 Premier League games, including home meetings with Stoke, West Ham and this weekend’s opponents Manchester United, and that’s with two fit centre-backs. Injuries and suspensions could see midfielder Mo Besic fill in at the back at Wembley.

The other semi-final seems almost too close to call, but Watford should benefit from having their two lethal frontmen well-rested. Troy Deeney played just 15 minutes at Upton Park in midweek while Odion Ighalo got the night off entirely. The Hornets will hope they’ve got their rash challenges out of the way, though, having conceded four penalties in their last two games.
