The Zlatan Ibrahimovic transfer saga continues to be oh-so Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The wait goes on

Will the almighty Zlatan Ibrahimovic walk out onto the Old Trafford pitch in the red of Manchester United next season?

Yes, let’s face it, he probably will, but he’s pretty happy to keep trolling media and football fans until the day it’s confirmed.

The Swede promised to “drop a bomb” in the build-up to a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, which many took to mean that he would finally announce a one-year deal to reunite with Jose Mourinho at his new club.

But, as it turned out, the ‘announcement’ was basically an announcement that he isn’t in any rush to make an announcement.

Ibrahimovic is believed to have agreed personal terms with the Red Devils, but the only official unveiling he made on Tuesday was a brand new clothing range. It was Zlatan at his most Zlatan.

He told disappointed journalists: “‘There is no confirmation. No saying “yes”. You will have to be patient with me.

“My future is A-Z. There will also be A-Z in Manchester.

“I want you to keep wondering where I will go, keep making stories, because I enjoy while the stories go out. When I feel tired I will let you know where my next destination is.”

The 34-year-old was also questioned on his decision to leave French champions PSG.

“I think you come to a moment when you feel that there is nothing more to do,” he explained.

“So what I left behind me, mission completed. There is nothing more to do.

“I did my story. This story will live forever and I go seek another challenge.”
