There was a possibility that we’d see Tyson Fury vs. Tony Bellew but it was a fight that the latter would only accept on one very specific condition.
As Fury returned to fight shape in recent months, he entertained Bellew as a potential opponent for his comeback.
After spending two years away from the fight game, Fury has finally agreed to return to the ring on June 9.
Having shed close to 10 stone, the undefeated heavyweight will hope to recapture the kind of form that saw him dethrone Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
At the time of writing, an opponent has yet to be announced for Fury’s comeback in Manchester in six weeks’ time.

Discussions had taken place with Bellew’s camp but due to the fact that ‘Bomber’ is set to rematch David Haye next week, it was impossible to make the Fury fight.
Bellew has revealed that he was only interested in sharing the ring with Fury if he could do so in his first fight back from hiatus.
“I like that fight as long as I’m his first fight back,” Bellew told the Telegraph. “I’m not being forceful, I’m not trying to be anything I’m not here.
“Do I beat a fully fledged, fully fit Tyson Fury? Probably not. But do I beat a Tyson Fury that’s been out of the ring for two years? Yes.
“Boxing is all about timing. And if you take long periods of inactivity you will be made to pay the price. I believe I could make Tyson Fury pay the price.”
