As much as Hafþór JúlÃus Björnsson has had a bit of a nightmare here, we still wouldn’t be brave enough to point it out to his face.
The man that plays The Mountain on Game of Thrones is a proud Icelander and, like most of his countrymen, the strongman will have almost certainly been watching his national football team as they took on France in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.
Buoyed by his country’s recent win over England, a confident tweet was fired out from Björnsson’s account, featuring the man himself alongside a message which read: ‘Good luck France, you’ll need it!’

After the gutsy performance of Lars Lagerback’s side in Nice last Monday, you can understand his confidence.
However, the fact that Iceland were *already 1-0 down* and just seconds from falling 2-0 behind took the edge off this bold statement.
Goals from Olivier Giroud and then Paul Pogba inside the first 20 minutes for the French had put the hosts on course for the last four. When Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann added a third and fourth before half time, Iceland’s Euro 2016 adventure was as good as over.
Still, as we said, we wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of the bloke. With that in mind, let us stress that this was almost certainly not his fault and probably down to whoever is in charge of his social media accounts these days.
