John Stones attempted to clear the ball and smashed it straight into his teammate, Ederson. The England international then miraculously managed to clear it off the line, preventing a goal by less than a centimetre.
Then this Sunday afternoon, as Liverpool fans all got behind Sean Dyche’s claret and blue army, Manchester City edged past a typically resilient Burnley 1-0 thanks to a Sergio Agüero goal that Matt Lowton so nearly cleared off the line.
The right-back stopped the initial shot but could not prevent the ball from crossing the line before he cleared it properly.
This one was slightly less marginal, but still agonisingly close to being stopped.
