A top-flight debut is a daunting thing for any footballer, and the pressure is often more intense for goalkeepers.
So spare a thought for Darren Randolph, who looks set to make his Premier League bow against a team that have put 16 goals past him in three previous games.
The West Ham number two is poised to start against the Cherries following Adrian’s sending-off in the Hammers’ last game, and may still have nightmares about the eight goals he shipped against Eddie Howe’s side when he was between the sticks for Birmingham last season.
If that wasn’t bad enough, the Irish international has twice conceded four against Bournemouth, in last year’s reverse fixture and in the home meeting in 2013/14.
Strangely it’s not the first time a West Ham goalkeeper has struggled against one particular opponent. Craig Forrest was in goal for the London club’s 7-1 defeat to Man United in 2000, five years after suffering a 9-0 defeat to the same opponents while at Ipswich.
