Tony Bellew’s physique mocked by David Haye after both men weigh in

Fighting talk.

We’ve got a fight!

British rivals David Haye and Tony Bellew came face-to-face for the final time before their grudge match and while the weigh-ins lacked any real fireworks, the war of words predictably continued on the eve of their long-awaited meeting.

Both men took to the scales on Friday and, as was to be expected, Haye came in quite a bit heavier than his opponent, who will make his heavyweight debut in London’s O2 Arena.

Haye weighed in at just over 16st, almost a full stone heavier than ‘The Bomber’, who came in at 15st 3lbs.

The fighters were not allowed to get too close to one another, so as to avoid any repeat of the press conference violence of last year which ended with a punch being thrown by ‘The Hayemaker’.

But the trash talk carried on, with Haye firing shots at the physique of Bellew after the official weights had been read out by veteran announcer Michael Buffer.

“I’ve put on some good, healthy usable muscle. My diet is actually tighter now than it was at cruiserweight,” Haye told Sky Sports.

“Just look at him, he doesn’t look like an athlete. Nine out of 10 people in the street have a better physique than he does. He’s made heavyweight by eating a load of pies, I’ve made weight with methodical eating and training.”

Bellew saw the results of the weigh-ins a little differently to his opponent, as he explained how he anticipates the added muscle to force Haye to gas early on.

“I thought he’d be lighter, I’m over the moon about his weight. He’s going to gas!” Bellew said.

“He’s an amazing athlete, he’s pleasing on the eye: I think I might fancy him! He’ll give it the same showboating and then I’m going to hit him back and he won’t be too happy about it. He’ll miss and he’ll get annoyed.”
