On Monday, Tottenham Hotspur set an unwanted Premier League record.
Spurs are the only team this season to have struck the woodwork three times in one game, and have achieved the dubious feat twice.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side were – crudely speaking – off target with three efforts in their 1-1 draw with West Brom, having done the same against Norwich back in February.
Those three extra clatters of posts and crossbars brings Tottenham’s league total to 18. That is still one off Arsenal’s total of 19.
West Ham are also on 18 while Everton are on 17. Liverpool round out the top five on 15.

When it comes to players who have rattled the woodwork more times than they would care to admit, there are three tied at the top (bottom?).
Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Romelu Lukaku have all been denied by the frame of the goal on six occasions.
Aresenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Ross Barkley of Everton are tied fourth with five misses apiece.
In terms of goals to woodwork, Barkley has the worst return – eight goals to five misses. Toffees fans must wonder where their side would have been had Lukaku and Barkley – 11 misses between them – been more accurate this season.
