Merry miserable January.
The festive season is over, everyone’s back to work, it’s a Monday and to cheer everyone up and to add to their fans’ misery, Tottenham Hotspur inexplicably decided to share a very painful club memory on Twitter.

On this day in 2005, Spurs drew 0-0 with Manchester United after Pedro Mendes’ stunning 88th-minute effort from the halfway line was deemed to have been saved by Roy Carroll.
However, as it can be seen in the clip, the ball clearly crossed the line after the Northern Irish keeper fumbled it, but no goal was given. To make matters worse, Spurs missed out on a UEFA Cup place at the end of the season by just three points.
So it is unsurprising that the fans didn’t take too kindly to their club rubbing salt in an 11-year wound through social media.
