Mourinho has been at the club for less than two years
Reports are emerging this morning that Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Tottenham Hotspur.
According to a report in The Telegraph, Mourinho will officially be relieved of his duties by chairman Daniel Levy after a hugely disappointing time in charge of the club.
It has been reported that he has already been told the news.
Spurs currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League, five points outside of the Champions League places with just six games of the season to go.
First-team coaches Ryan Mason and Chris Powell are expected to take charge of the first team until the end of the season.
His sacking comes at a time when Spurs fans are said to be irate with the club’s management after they, alongside five other Premier League teams, announced that they will join a breakaway competition called the Super League.
Tottenham join fellow top half club and rivals Arsenal, as well as Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea in joining the Super League.
LaLiga sides Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, alongside Serie A giants Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan make up the remainder of the sides taking part in the competition which has been labelled as being motivated purely by greed.
The plans have been condemned by the clubs’ individual leagues, with Uefa and Fifa also threatening action – including potentially banning the players involved from international competition – if the competition goes ahead.
