Transfer gossip: Man City aiming to beat Barcelona to £60m Paul Pogba

Ben Kenyon

City want £60m Pogba

Paul Pogba could be the £60m cherry on the top of a massive transfer fee-splurging cake for Man City this summer.

The Mirror report the Juventus midfielder is a top target for Manuel Pellegrini in an orgy of spending which could top £150m.

Chelsea and Barcelona are also chasing the 22-year-old, but City could be ready to Paul out all the stops to get Pogba (sorry).

Raheem Sterling could also be the subject of a £40m bid from the Premier League runners-up, say the Manchester Evening News, while the Mirror report the Liverpool star has been given a ‘take it or leave it’ offer to join City.

Wolfsburg star Kevin De Bruyne and Marseille’s Giannelli Imbula complete Pellegrini’s costly wishlist.

Man United bail on Bale with Kane back in the frame

Man United are back in the race for Harry Kane after reaching a dead end in their move for Gareth Bale.

Louis van Gaal will make a £40m bid for the free-scoring Spurs striker after Real Madrid reportedly refused to negotiate over Bale, claim the Daily Mirror.

It’s only a few weeks since the Dutchman turned his attention away from the England international after an initial knock-back from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

And unless Levy changes his original stance, Van Gaal might not be getting his man any time soon.

Cech, please…

Arsenal are hoping their hunt for Chelsea keeper Cech doesn’t Petr out (apologies again…).

The Daily Mail report that Arsene Wenger is hoping to complete an £11m deal for the 33-year-old by the end of next week.

Paris Saint-Germain have also made a formal enquiry about the services of the four-time Premier League winner, but Cech is believed to want to stay in London.

He is pretty handy between the sticks…

The best of the rest…
