You lucky Schweins
Manchester United are close to completing a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Germany’s Bild report the World Cup winner is poised to sign a three-year deal at Old Trafford worth a staggering £7.2m a year.
The 30-year-old has made more than 500 appearances for Bayern since 2009, but reportedly declined to extend his contract with the German champions.
The Manchester Evening News report that Louis van Gaal, who worked with the star at Bayern between 2009 and 2011, could bring him in for a fee of £5.75m.
It looks to end the club’s interest in other German-sounding midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin from Southampton, say the Express.
Ster crazy
Raheem Sterling will be left to rot in Liverpool’s reserves if the club don’t get £50m for the star.
The Mirror say Anfield chiefs are digging their heels in over the wantaway star who has failed to turn up to pre-season training.
City are reportedly readying a £40m-plus-add-ons bid for the England international, but the Merseyside club won’t accept anything less than £50m.
Ospina Ceching out?
Despite putting in some heroic performances for Columbia in the Copa America, Arsenal’s David Ospina is eyeing a move elsewhere.
With the arrival of former Chelsea ‘keeper Petr Cech at the Emirates, the 26-year-old South American’s opportunities for first team football are pretty limited.
The Express report that Ospina is open to a move to Everton, with the 26-year-old describing the Merseysiders as “a very competitive team” and “a great possibility”.
And to think Arsenal fans said he couldn’t play for toffee.
