It’s never too early to make a change.
At least it’s not if you’re Trevor Francis.
The former QPR and Sheffield Wednesday manager – and Britain’s first £1 million footballer (we’re all legally obliged to say that at any mention of Francis’ name) was on co-commentary duties today at Stamford Bridge.
We’ve always had a bit of a soft sport from Trev – after all he was a staple on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football during the 90s where he was often co-commentator alongside Ian Darke.
Well the Dream Team (if you have pretty depressing and disturbing dreams) were back together today at the Bridge.
This was one of Francis’ first duties for BT Sport following his move from Sky Sports so perhaps, like any new signing, he was just that bit too eager to make an early impression.
After Liverpool went 1-0 down to a Ramires header after four minutes, Francis suggested Klopp bring Christian Benteke off the bench… after just six minutes.
It was a suggestion that didn’t go down too well with armchair viewers.
Not knee jerk or nothin', Trevor Francis suggesting Liverpool get Benteke on. After 6 minutes. #CHELIV

Really, Trev? Concede an early goal and you're saying Klopp should bring on Benteke after 6 minutes? What the fuck is wrong with you?

“Jürgen Klopp has already got to be thinking about making a change”. After all of six minutes. Cheers for that, @btsport.

6 minutes in and Trevor Francis thinks Jurgen Klopp should contemplate making a change…

@thehuwdavies can't believe I'm saying it but I wish Michael Owen was talking more

A cracking hot take on BT Sport as Trevor Francis suggests Benteke should be subbed on after five minutes play.

The managerial genius that is Trevor Francis, suggesting Liverpool bring an unfit Benteke on after five minutes. Classic #BTSport #CHEvLIV
