This is just cruel.
If Marcus Rashford makes England’s 23-man squad, another forward will probably have to miss out. In the eyes of many, Daniel Sturridge should be sacrificed for the sake of the in-form Manchester United teenager.
The Liverpool man missed training this week, and has been an injury worry for much of the last 24 months, so when Rashford scored with his first shot as an England player, it made many people’s decision for them.
