So it’s official – Manchester United will be playing Europa League next season.
A 3-2 defeat to Wolfsburg as well as PSV Eindhoven’s 2-1 win at home to CSKA Moscow means the Premier League team will be playing on Thursday nights in the new year.
As you might guess, United fans weren’t happy…
Safe to safe United are 11 players short of having a half decent side

Lvg is doing a great job with the £300m project, he might possibly get United into UCL and Europa in the same year

It seemed for a brief moment that United would be going through when CSKA scored a penalty, only for Eindhoven to pull back a quick equaliser. Then it happened again with Louis van Gaal’s men finding an equaliser of their own…only for Wolfsburg to immediately to re-take the lead…
CSKA Moscow 1-0 PSV, and PSV
are down to ten men, we are
through to the Champions League

United were back into the UCL for a minute or so. Now they are back to Europa.. 😂😂😂😂

My heart is being played with. One minute United are heading through. The next, they're heading to Europa ðŸ˜

I prefer the 0-0s to this disappointment, excitement, disappointment lark. Mundanity much less taxing on the heart.

Meanwhile, rival fans were having a field day…
Ronaldo has scored, Sturridge is injured and United are getting beat. Groundhog day.

Louis van Gaal using the last 20 of this match to prepare a Europa League XI for February. Nick Powell on.
