‘Please get your facts right…’
Who knows if Anthony Joshua will ever share the ring with Tyson Fury?
Fans’ frustrations with boxing are perhaps best summed up with the current state of the sport’s heavyweight division as none of the big fights that fans are calling out for look like happening anytime in the near future.
After an incredible title fight between Fury and Deontay Wilder in December, the much-desired rematch fell by the wayside after the former signed an exclusive broadcast deal with ESPN while Joshua has his own plans to boost his profile Stateside.
Joshua was set to make his US debut against unbeaten New Yorker Jarrell Miller on June 1 but that fight will no longer be taking place after Miller failed multiple drug tests last month.
A six-man shortlist of replacements was drawn up by Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, and among the names is California native, Michael Hunter.
Hunter, whose only career defeat came against Oleksandr Usyk, remains an option for Joshua at Madison Square Garden after popular Cuban heavyweight Luis Ortiz made it known that he would not be accepting Hearn’s “lowball offer.”
With casual fans on this side of the Atlantic largely unfamiliar with Hunter, The Sun published a factfile on the 30-year-old to bring readers up to speed.

But Tyson Fury has taken umbrage with one fact contained within as he has called out the newspaper for publishing fake news with regards to the claim that Hunter beat him in an amateur contest many years ago.
Hunter has gone on record to admit that he officially lost the fight although he claims that he enjoyed the better of the exchanges.
Fury, meanwhile, is adamant that he “sparked Hunter at Cafe Royal London,” and insisted that the American was not one of the four opponents who beat him during his amateur days.
