Whyte is the WBC ‘interim’ champion
Tyson Fury has not been ordered to fight Dillian Whyte after the WBC opted against officially ordering a mandatory WBC heavyweight title fight.
The Gypsy King was waiting on confirmation of his next WBC title fight, with Wyte’s status as the WBC ‘interim’ champion placing him in pole position to challenge Fury.
However, the World Boxing Council (WBC) did not reveal Fury’s mandatory commitments at its annual convention on Tuesday, with the Body Snatcher now having to wait even longer for the fight to be sanctioned.
The governing body tweeted a list of the latest WBC rankings, but there was no mention of the mandatory challenger.

Following his trilogy triumph over Deontay Wilder on October 9, the WBC put out a ruling about what would come next for the Gypsy King.
Last month, the WBC passed the ruling that stated, should Fury be unable to agree an undisputed world title fight against Oleksandr Usyk within 30 days, he would have to defend his belt against the WBC ‘interim’ champion.
Considering that the WBC deadline has now passed, and with Usyk already committed to a rematch against Anthony Joshua, it appears that Fury vs Whyte is the only possible outcome.
However, because the WBC indicated that a case with Whyte is currently in an arbitration court, with no resolution as yet, they insisted that they are not able to organise a bout due to their ongoing legal battle with the fighter.
It is thought that Wyte has previously taken action against the sanctioning body as he looked to secure his title shot.
