Tyson Fury displays a masterclass in keeping his cool
Fans have applauded boxing legend Tyson Fury for his classy and brilliant response to a journalist who questioned whether he’d fall back into depression.
After Tyson Fury, 33, beat Deontay Wilder, 35, the Telegraph‘s Gareth Davies asked what many are dubbing as a “highly insensitive” question.
“After a thrilling contest like that, you must be incredibly proud of yourself – but are you really going to fall into a depression?”
Despite the direct nature of the question, Fury kept his cool – something many of us may not have been able to do.
Fury replied: “I hope not. I’m going to try my best to keep positive and stay focused on being happy. I’ve got a lot to be thankful for in my life. God has given me everything I’ve ever asked for and I’ve got a lot to be thankful for, for sure.”
Following a massive uproar online, Davies reached out to Fury for his take.
“I actually thought it was quite a good question,” Fury told the journalist.
“Always talk about mental health, we always do.”
“They don’t know I sent you messages when you weren’t well,” replies Davies, to which Fury replied: “And they also don’t know that I sent you messages when you weren’t well.”

Davies concluded by adding: “You know what, it happens to everybody and everybody is going to have an opinion. So, it is what it is.”
Though the duo’s history seems to play a part in how the question was received, this hasn’t stopped fans of the sport from crucifying the journalist online.
“It’s not about you talking about mental health, it’s about how badly you worded your question. Why go to the guy to try and save face for yourself? Just admit, it wasn’t done well and move on,” said one frustrated fan.
Another replied with: “The context you asked it in is utterly bizarre, if he was talking about it before you brought it up it would have sounded okay.”
