Tyson Fury’s promoter slams Kate Abdo for suggesting Fury and Wilder face-off

“F*** her and f*** them – there was no face-off and we saved the fight”

Tyson Fury’s US boxing promoter Bob Arum has claimed that he “saved the fight” after stepping in to ensure that The Gypsy King and Deontay Wilder did not face-off during their recent press conference.

Arum was annoyed with presenter Kate Abdo and broadcaster Fox Sports after the former suggested that Fury and Wilder were going to face-off following the conclusion of their press conference.

The 89-year-old stated that both Abdo and Fox were aware that a face-off was never going to be part of the press conference, which led Arum to claim that the presenter was out of line to suggest that the fighters did so.

During the press conference, the Top Rank founder even shouted from the crowd: “Not a good idea!” when Abdo mentioned the proposal.

After quickly realising that it wasn’t part of the plan, the 40-year-old changed her mind – suggesting it was Arum’s interference that stoped a face-to-face altercation happening.

“They bring this woman in from the UK and she’s slanting all the press conference to Wilder,” said Arum. “Like I don’t give a damn, but it’s obvious what she was doing.

“And then, she knew that the understanding was: no face-off. Tom Brown argued with Fox, no face-off.

“We said, “No face-off”. What does she say? “Now we’re going to do a face-off?”

“F*** her and f*** them. There was no face-off and we saved the fight.”

The two heavyweight boxers have been involved in a number of heated exchanges ahead of their bout on Saturday night, with Fury responding to Wilder’s previous claims that the Brit had tampered with his gloves prior to The Gypsy King’s triumph over The Bronze Bomber in February 2020.

The trilogy bout between Fury and Wilder is is set to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada on October 9, 2021.
