Uefa’s team of the Euro 2016 qualifiers includes Bale and a host of Premier League stars

Wales come out on top

Now that the dust has settled on the Euro 2016 qualifying groups, we can start to look ahead to the tournament.

We’ve already brought you our starting XI for players not going to France, but Uefa have decided to focus on the positives – and there are four big ones for British teams.

In Gareth Bale and Ashley Williams, Wales boasts two representatives in the starting XI – the only nation with multiple players to make the cut.

Williams is joined in the centre of defence by Chelsea’s Gary Cahill while Northern Irishman Steven Davis is a surprise inclusion as the main man in midfield.

Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian, Chelsea’s Tibaut Courtois and Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson make up the rest of the Premier League contingent in the starting team, while there is room for Manchester City newboy Kevin de Bruyne on the bench.
