Good news for Manchester United, bad news for Atom and Humber…
Alexis Sanchez will *finally* be allowed to join Manchester United’s preseason tour of the United States.
The Chilean was initially unable to fly out with his teammates on Sunday due to a visa issue relating to a suspended 16-month prison sentence for tax fraud he was issued with during his time at Barcelona. As a result, he’s spent the last week working on his fitness in isolation at the club’s training facilities.
However, a statement posted on United’s official website on Thursday afternoon confirmed the matter has now been resolved, with the 29-year-old poised to fly out ‘soon’, joining up with the rest of the team following their meeting with Club America in Arizona.
His arrival in the States will come as welcome news to Jose Mourinho, who voiced his concerns about how threadbare United’s touring squad currently is during a press conference on Wednesday.
None of the United players that participated at the World Cup have travelled on the tour just yet, although some of those whose countries were knocked out in the earlier rounds are expected to join the squad in the coming days. Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones and Marcus Rashford are not expected to feature on the tour after appearing in the final stages of the tournament in Russia.
United kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Leicester City on August 10.
