This would suit all parties.
Victor Valdes has been made an outcast by Louis van Gaal at Manchester United. The former Barcelona goalkeeper, who has won six La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues and the World Cup during his career, wasn’t even given a squad number at Old Trafford.
He’s been made train alone, after the first-team have left and had his locker taken away.
Van Gaal claims the player refused to play in a reserve fixture last season, and has since been ostracised.
However, it appears all parties may get their way, with Valdes’ agent claiming this week that the player will leave United in January.
“He’ll have a chance [to play] in January, wherever he goes, and we are looking to find a move that he likes.” Gines Carvajal told Spanish radio.
Valdes’ representative also revealed that the 33 year old won’t be returning to his native Spain, and turned down a move to Valencia during the summer transfer window.
“He won’t be coming to Spain, unless he decides otherwise. He had the option of coming to Valencia in the summer and did not want to.”
We’d be surprised if Valdes decided to continue training alone at United, rather than return to Spanish football, if a similar opportunity arises in January.
