No, it wasn’t just you
Watching live sport on the ITV Hub app or BBC iPlayer always comes with the unfortunate side effect of being about 30 seconds behind the television feed. This means goals get spoiled by WhatsApp messages, or seeing tweets as you scroll your timeline while watching the game.
But during France vs Switzerland, this ‘delay’ got taken to an entirely new level, as viewers using the ITV Hub app were subject to watching the same 10 seconds from the third minute of the game on a loop, due to a glitch with the app.
The complaints were loud and plentiful on social media, as viewers fumed that they could not watch the round of 16 tie – especially after they had missed an impressive goal from Seferovic to put the Swiss 1-0 up.
So no, it wasn’t just your app. Everyone else watching on a laptop or an Amazon firestick suffered the same trouble.
But thankfully, Twitter came to the rescue with its brilliant humour and creativity to provide some comic relief for those missing the action.

prestige TV show idea: Ricardo Rodriguez is caught in a time loop, taking the same corner at #Euro2020 over and over again. Is he mad, in a coma, or stuck on the ITV Hub forever? If he can work out the reason, maybe he can get home pic.twitter.com/RYhwedJ6hI

What caused this glitch? We can’t be sure. But it might, possibly, have something to do with the return of Love Island tonight, and the millions of people booting up a stream to watch this year’s show.
