He led Man City to four Premier League titles
Former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany has announced his retirement at the age of 34 and become manager of Anderlecht.
The defender spend 11 seasons at Manchester City, winning four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups.
Kompany began his career at Anderlecht, where he returned in 2019 as player-manager, but stepped down from managerial duties following the club’s worst start to a league campaign for 20 years.

But now, having retired as a player, he will assume full managerial duties of his boyhood club.
The Belgian is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s greatest defenders ever, for his talismanic performances at the heart of City’s title winning sides, scoring vital goals in title charges and leading by example at the back.
Persistent injuries took their toll on Kompany towards the latter stages of his career, as he only made 11 appearances in each of this last two seasons for City, and just 15 for Anderlecht in 2019/20.
But he will has cemented legend status among City fans and Anderlecht fans alike.
Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku congratulated Kompany on his playing career and thanked him for paving the way for so many other players.
